Under the Milky Way, Kilauea Caldera, Hawaii

:: My September 10-14 workshop is full, but here’s still space in my (just added) September 3-7 2012 Hawaii workshop ::

The first time I peered into Hawaii’s Kilauea Caldera glowing beneath a sea of stars, I knew I needed to do a workshop here. This urge was bolstered by subsequent visits to black volcanic beaches, lush jungles, and plummeting waterfalls that seem ubiquitous on Hawaii’s Big Island.

Given that my scouting trips uncovered more locations to photograph than time to do it, it’s hard to pinpoint a highlight. But, in no particular order, here are a few images from some of my favorite locations (in addition to the image of Kilauea beneath Milky Way above):

Raindrops, Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, Hawaii

Sunrise and Reflection, unnamed beach, Puna coast, Hawaii

Pu'u O'o Lava Flow, Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii

Wild Orchid, Lava Tree State Park, Hawaii

Akaka Fall, Akaka Falls State Park, Hawaii

Want more? You can experience it all firsthand in my 2012 Hawaii workshops, September 3-7 (space available) and 10-14 (sold out).
